At its headquarters on Pivers Island, the NC Coastal Reserve maintains a
motorboat that is used to carry out mission-oriented activities throughout the
year at the Rachel Carson site. The Jones Brothers skiff is a small
shallow-draft vessel (17' flat-bottomed skiff, 50hp engine - pictured above),
which allows Reserve staff to access all areas of the Rachel Carson site during
a wide range of tidal conditions. The vessel is used to support site
maintenance, natural resource monitoring and protection, education programs, and
research activities. It is essential for the Reserve to maintain a reliable boat
and engine so that managers can maintain the Rachel Carson site in its most
natural condition.

After many years of faithful operation, the engine on this
boat is fast approaching the end of its useful service life. Please help CERF
replace this engine to keep this valuable resource in operation.

We appreciate the fact that you are constantly bombarded with donation requests
but, unlike most donations, you will have the satisfaction of knowing where
every dime of your money was spent and be able to look across Taylors Creek and see your generous gift at work on a daily
basis. |
|
In addition, your name or dedication will be displayed on a plaque that will be
mounted to the boat. You will also receive a one year membership in CERF
commensurate with your level of donation
